Policy on Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals
Introduction
This policy outlines the guidelines for service animals and emotional support animals (ESAs) on our premises. We are committed to providing equal access to individuals with disabilities while maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for all.
Service Animals
Definition: A service animal is a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability.
Access: Service animals are welcome in all areas of our facility where the public is generally allowed.
Documentation: No documentation is required to bring a service animal onto the premises.
Behavior: Service animals must be under the control of their handler at all times and must not be disruptive to others.
Denial of Access: We may deny access to a service animal if:
The animal is out of control and the handler cannot effectively control it.
The animal is not housebroken.
The animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others.
Emotional Support Animals (ESAs)
Definition: An ESA is an animal that provides comfort and support to an individual with a mental or emotional disability.
Access: While we understand the importance of ESAs, they are not considered service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). As such, ESAs are generally not permitted on our premises except in specific housing accommodations.
Exceptions: In cases where required by law or to comply with reasonable accommodations under the Fair Housing Act, we may make exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
General Provisions
Animal Waste: All animal waste must be cleaned up immediately by the animal’s handler.
Animal Care: Animals must be properly cared for and attended to at all times.
Alterations: We reserve the right to modify this policy as needed to comply with changes in law or to ensure the safety and well-being of our patrons and staff.Policy on Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals
